Tips for writing your CV

– BE CONCISE! Your potential employer will NOT give more than a minute to read your CV.
– ALWAYS WRITE THE TRUTH! One single false info will discredit the whole.
– REMAIN DIRECT AND FACTUAL: You are not writing an autobiography, nor a novel.
– USE A CLEAR FORMAT: Choose a font that is easily readable and a font size that is neither too big, nor too small.
– USE REVERSE-CHRONOLOGICAL FORMAT: For sections with chronological entries (ex: Work Experience or Education), order your info from newest to oldest.
– PROOF-READ WHAT YOU’VE WRITTEN! Mistakes in spelling or grammar will unavoidably leave a negative impression.
– HAVE A QUALIFIED PERSON MAKE AN OBJECTIVE REVIEW: Accept his/her suggestions and listen to the advice given.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

– DON’T think you’re the only candidate or, worse, the only worthy candidate!
– DON’T load your CV with jargon aiming at impressing your reader: your diplomas or experience should speak for themselves.
– DON’T make your resume longer than one page!
